Friday 15th-Thursday 21st April
This week we have turned our outdoor wendy house into a science lab! We have added books about wildlife and plants, a microscope, bug viewers, binoculars and more. Please feel free to have a look when you are passing!*
For the next few weeks we will be linking our learning to the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. We have read the story and looked at some beans and will plan our activities based on where the children’s interests lie, as well as our planned experiences and outcomes. Some of our planned activities are:
-Acting out the story of Jack and the Beanstalk using props.
-Learning about money and identifying coins (linking to Jack selling his cow).
-Tasting different types of beans and growing our own.
-Discussing how we can get help if we need it
-Looking at the work of illustrators and discussing our thoughts on different pictures of Jack and the giant.
-Sorting some magic beans.
-Playing the ‘beans’ game (this is lots of fun – we can teach you about it!).
-Reading different versions of the story and discussing similarities and differences.
We will be looking for some GIANT props to help us retell the story. Please let us know if you can help (we would particularly like a giant pair of trousers or a pair of pants – any budding sewers among us???)
