Additional Support Needs

An additional support need comes from Kids_jumping_on_booksanything which is a barrier to learning.  Most, or all, schools will have some children with additional support needs of some kind.  The education authority has many legal duties towards pupils with additional support needs.

Information about this is contained in a booklet called In On The Act : Information For The General Public which is published on the education authority website at  or contact the additional support for learning team on telephone number 0131 469 3444.

Inclusion statement Support for Learning Teachers: Miss Bethune (Tues, Thurs, Fri) Mrs Black (Mon, Tues, Wed) In our Support for Learning roles we work in close consultation with class teachers, PSAs, wider school staff, external agencies (when required) and Parents / Guardians, to support children across our school. Sometimes we will work cooperatively in class with varying groups of pupils, and sometimes we will work with individuals or groups outwith the classroom setting. Our wider role helps to raise attainment and pupil achievement. Pupils throughout the school can benefit from extra support for a variety of reasons:
  • For short or long term support as a result of illness/personal circumstances
  • For reinforcing work taught in class
  • For extension activities to challenge thinking
  • For support in any curricular area due to specific learning needs, e.g. dyslexia, dyscalculia, planning and organisation.
If you have any concerns regarding your child’s learning we can be contacted via the main school office. Thank you Miss Bethune & Mrs Black
