Life in P6T

Our last blog post of 2016 is from Freya and Rebecca. Happy holidays from P6T!

We have been looking at plant growth by planting our own bean seeds. We also learned the different parts of a flower.

On Wednesday we went to Frankie and Bennies – we got to make pizzas and eat them. When we came back from Frankie and Bennies we watched a French cartoon called Trotro. We also had dance in P.E.

On Thursday we finished off our calendars and made Christmas cards with Mrs Love. We checked our bean seeds. We did our French Speaking test. We had to think really hard.
On Tuesday, we were so busy – we had WE day and then went swimming. We made some sustainable transport vehicles out of Loose Parts.

On Friday we had a celebration assembly and finished our pollination and fertilisation comic strips and had privilege time.

Life in P6T

Rebecca and Cooper worked really hard on writing their blog entry, and they couldn’t believe how much we have learned in such a short amount of time!

21.11.16 On Monday we were learning science with Mr Shields. We were looking at the structure of the brain and what it does. We also made a story graph about our reading book, plotting the suspense levels. After lunch we were learning about fractions in maths. In RME, we looked at the Pharisee and the tax collector story.

22.11.16 On Tuesday we started to write an instructional writing piece on how to wash a dog. After break time we went to Queensferry High School to go swimming. The instructors were called Mrs McKay and Mrs Anderson. We were so tired when we got back to school! After lunch we made sprites on the program Scratch.

23.11.16 On Wednesday we did CLIC and big maths in the three different rooms. In science we looked at the nervous system and what it does. We went outside and we drew a giant person showing the nervous system, respiratory system and circulatory system within the giant. Finally we had Scottish dance with Miss Brown.

24.11.16 On Thursday we did art with Mrs Love and we focussed on self-portraiture with her. We also looked at tessellation and we used our knowledge to create a wall hanging with stain glass windows using tessellated shapes. We looked at how artists used tessellation in their art and natural tessellation like pineapple, honeycomb and snake’s skin. We then did literacy circles in our groups.

25.11.16 On Friday we were practising having a French conversation. Then we played some Sudoku puzzles and then it was privilege time!

Life in P6T

Megan and Cara have been our class bloggers for the past two weeks – so much going on, it was difficult to remember it all!

We have started a science topic and we were learning about the ear. It was fun but gross because we found out loads about your ear wax – eek ew!

We went to New Lanark, we learned about what things people did in the Victorian times. We went on a really fun and educational ride which had cool holograms. Also we saw the only running water wheel today.

We watched a ‘how to’ YouTube video to make a prototype, then wrote instructions on how to make paper fortune tellers in our literacy jotters. The NSPCC (Child Line) came in and talked to us about how to stay safe online and about different types of abuse.

Today we watched the Primary 7 remembrance assembly which was 1 hour and 10 minutes long!

Life in P6T

Grace and Jessica worked really hard on recording their notes for this blog post, and couldn’t wait to type the final draft. Well done girls!

26.09.16 – On Monday Mrs MacGregor came in and we did our spelling test and challenged ourselves to answer PIN number questions. We did a 2 minute to win it challenge about the Industrial Revolution. We met our new teacher called Mr Shields. We also started one of the sections in our JAZZ folder.

27.09.16 – On Tuesday we did our report writing about transport during the Industrial Revolution. Then we did CLIC in Ms Leithead’s and Mrs Thomas’s classroom.

28.09.16 – On Wednesday we read more of The Desperate Journey. In French, we learnt how to say the weather and wrote phrases in French. We had P.E with Miss Brown and did rugby. It was really fun.

On Friday we went to our last ever skiing lesson, it was really really fun!

3.10.16 – On Monday we went to the money museum. We all went on a train which was jam-packed! When we arrived at Waverley station, it was a 10 minute walk to the museum. When we got to the museum we went into groups and then went to an activity spot and learnt about money in the past. Then we all met up and had our snack. We really enjoyed making our own coins! At the last station we looked at the security features on £20 notes and created our own notes. After lunch we did an activity sheet using the information around the museum. Then we got a train back to the school.

4.10.16 – On Wednesday we learned about credit cards and debit cards as part of our money topic. Then we finished our talk on famous Scottish inventors but we are only allowed to use pictures on a PowerPoint and 20 words max on the cue cards.

5.10.16 – On Thursday we answered more money problems in maths. We also read more of The Desperate Journey and we got asked juicy big questions about the story. In the afternoon we had P.E with Miss Brown. It was really fun because some people got to referee.

6.10.16 – It is house morning today! We had an eco assembly and out of junk we are making our own eco mascots!

Life in P6T

Amela and Cara had a good giggle while discussing the highlights of the past few weeks. Read more to find out what made them laugh the most!

On Wednesday, we were playing rugby for gym. There were three games on at the same time on the field. We played in teams of five or three. It was fun, hard, breath-taking and our trainers got very grassy.

We used the laptops to research inventors. We did a lot and found some new things about their family, childhood, birthday and the day they died. We are going to use this to make a talk to the class.

On Tuesday Mr Clarkson came to talk about transport to school and we used maps to look at things that stops us from walking or cycling to school.

We did a science experiment using four pennies. We put one in vinegar, lemon juice, water and kept one dry. It turned out really cool, some of them were really shiny. There had been some chemical reactions.

On Friday, Amela had the greatest fall ever at skiing. Another girl tripped, did a front flip and fell on Amela! She was brave and is fine now.

Life in P6T

Molly and Marilena have been blogging about their highlights from the past few weeks in Primary 6T –

On Friday, we went skiing and we went down the green slope. We went there on the bus. Skiing was really fun but it wasn’t fun when we fell because it is a dry ski slope and a dry ski slope is spiky!

We started our reading topic and I did a character map on Mr Walker, he is a character from the story Down the Pan. Then we had Music and drama with Mrs Love, and we created a rhythm on the laptops.

Today we learned about Word Wizard in literacy circles and we read On the Money. Mrs Thomas read The desperate Journey to us and we learned more about good vocabulary.  Today we also did subtraction with money in maths. In French, we did Lotto (AKA Bingo) and we learnt about the months of the year.

Check back again soon to read more from our class bloggers!
