Primary 1/2L Nativity

Good afternoon

The wait is over and our class nativity is finally ready for an audience. Please have a look at our class Seesaw page for the link you will need to view the show.

The children have all worked extremely hard to create this for you. I am so proud of their effort and I know that you will be too. We really hope that you enjoy the show – please leave us some comments on Seesaw, with any feedback, and I can share this with the class.

We must say an enormous ‘Thank You’ to Mr Brownlie for, without his help in putting all of our filming together, we would not have a nativity performance to watch. I am sure you will agree he has done a wonderful job. 🙂

We hope that you appreciate we can only share the link to the nativity via Seesaw, and not as a general web link, to comply with GDPR. By sharing on Seesaw it means that this is only a performance for our class and their families.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas. P1/2L and Ms Law x

P1/2 Christmas Party

8th December 2020

Dear Parents/Carers

As part of our Christmas celebrations in school, P1 and P1/2 will have their Christmas party on Wednesday 16th December.

Children should come to school in their party clothes on that day. However, please remember that they will be going outside to play at break and at lunchtime and so will still require suitable outdoor shoes and coats, hats, scarves and gloves.

There will be party games and small snacks for the children and we are looking forward to a fun, festive day.

Thank you very much

Primary 1/2 Literacy

We are having a busy week in P1/2L learning lots of new sounds, spelling rules and tricky words.

P1 have learned the letters ‘c’ and ‘l’ and have been making words with them, and have been reading and writing tricky words ‘to’, ‘he’ and ‘me’.

Primary 2 have started to discuss the rule of ‘Magic e’ and have been learning how Magic e changes the sound of a vowel in a word. We have changed the sound of letter ‘a’ in words, making the vowel say its name – tap becomes tape, man becomes mane etc. We also learned the tricky word ‘other’, helping us with ‘mother’, ‘brother’ and ‘another’.

Primary 1 Literacy – w/b 2nd November

This week we have been learning 2 new sounds AND 2 new tricky words. Please look for the sounds ‘u’ and ‘b’ on your laminated yellow sheets, cut these out and add them to your zippy bag.

Please look for the tricky words ‘I’ and ‘the’ on the new laminated orange card, cut these out and add them to the zippy bag too. Continue to practise reading and writing these little cards and playing games with them too.

Thank you.

Primary 1/2 Literacy – week beginning 5th October

This week Primary 2 will be learning to read and write some new sounds. We have been learning to join 2 consonants together to make a blended sound at the beginning of a word. This week we will focus on the sounds ‘dr’, ‘fr’, ‘gr’, ‘pr’ and ‘tr’. The children have been building and reading lots of words in class – see how many they can share with you at home.

Our tricky words this week are ‘said’ and ‘water’. We will discuss the easy and hard parts of each word and look at ways to remember them when we read and write them.

We read ‘The Highway Rat’, by Julia Donaldson, today and talked about the rhyming words we could hear in the story. We also talked about the characters in the story and how they might have felt when the rat was unkind to them. We linked this to our school value of ‘Kindness’. We will do various activities during the week to help us remember the story!

Primary 1 Houses (and P1/2)

P1 have been very excited today as they found out which of our 4 school houses they now belong to. The boys and girls have started to earn points for their houses already! 🙂

If you would like to purchase a house t-shirt in your child’s house colour and with our school emblem on too (for PE and house mornings) these can be bought from our school office for £5 each. Please can you have the exact amount in cash or write a cheque for this as the ladies are not able to process card payments at present.

Thank you very much.
