Primary 1 book bags

Just a wee reminder to have a daily peek in your child’s book bag when it comes home at the end of a day. Things to look out for are ORT word trees and word cards, letters about our upcoming trip and other events, P1s’ Scots Week poem and new sounds/tricky word flashcards that we have learned in our literacy lessons.

Please, also, give book bags a regular clear out and ensure that they only contain ORT/shared readers, sounds pockets and any correspondence that you wish class teachers to see, e.g notes about appointments etc.

Many thanks

Mrs Law, Mrs McConachie and Miss McLean

Primary 1 sounds packs

The children in Primary 1 have been working so hard, learning all of their letter sounds in class and at home.  It is really helping their reading and word building!

Sounds we have learned to read and write to date are:

a b c d e f g h i l m n o p r s t u

If any of these sounds are missing from your sounds pack then please do let us know, via  your child’s reading record, and we can make sure you have a full set.

Thank you very much

Mrs Law, Mrs McConachie and Miss McLean

NAMES!

Primary 1 have already started to collect a number of items of lost property.  Unfortunately the items are not named!  Please help us, and your child, by naming everything that belongs to them.

If you are missing a school sweatshirt (or anything else) please come in and speak to us.

Thank you very much

Mrs Law, Mrs McConachie and Miss McLean

P2HM’s Visit to Dynamic Earth

P2HM loved their trip to Dynamic Earth today. We found out all sorts of things about the weather. Take a look at some of our learning.IMG_1142

We found out that hot air rises. This is why we get wind and rain.

IMG_1146IMG_1150We used tornado bottles to find out what a real tornado looks like. We saw that the bottom of a tornado is much faster than the top.

We found out that lightening is electric.

IMG_1156We found out what electricity does to metal objects with air inside them.
