High production values and flawless singing. Subsequently pinched by some American songstress you won’t have heard of.
Our countdown continues with this midget gem!
Rebecca and Cooper worked really hard on writing their blog entry, and they couldn’t believe how much we have learned in such a short amount of time!
21.11.16 On Monday we were learning science with Mr Shields. We were looking at the structure of the brain and what it does. We also made a story graph about our reading book, plotting the suspense levels. After lunch we were learning about fractions in maths. In RME, we looked at the Pharisee and the tax collector story.
22.11.16 On Tuesday we started to write an instructional writing piece on how to wash a dog. After break time we went to Queensferry High School to go swimming. The instructors were called Mrs McKay and Mrs Anderson. We were so tired when we got back to school! After lunch we made sprites on the program Scratch.
23.11.16 On Wednesday we did CLIC and big maths in the three different rooms. In science we looked at the nervous system and what it does. We went outside and we drew a giant person showing the nervous system, respiratory system and circulatory system within the giant. Finally we had Scottish dance with Miss Brown.
24.11.16 On Thursday we did art with Mrs Love and we focussed on self-portraiture with her. We also looked at tessellation and we used our knowledge to create a wall hanging with stain glass windows using tessellated shapes. We looked at how artists used tessellation in their art and natural tessellation like pineapple, honeycomb and snake’s skin. We then did literacy circles in our groups.
25.11.16 On Friday we were practising having a French conversation. Then we played some Sudoku puzzles and then it was privilege time!
Were any of us ever really that young?
Another blast from the past today, 7 years (!) ago, some young faces, bad moustaches and even worse jokes!
As we count down to our Christmas Fair next Friday (!) it was suggested that we run through some of our previous QPS music videos!
Keep and eye out for pupils and staff both old and young, and for some fondly remembered absent friends.
New minutes from our PTA meeting are now available.
It’s been a while since our last post, but we’ve not been lazing around in that time!
The October week was much needed after Benmore, and washing machines were put to the test getting rid of a week’s worth of mud and grime. And that was just the teachers… Since then the children have been putting the finishing touches to their important Benmore booklets which will serve as evidence towards the Adventure section of the JASS work.
We enjoyed a second world war “rationing” day. The children got to Make Do and Mend (sewing buttons and patches onto old clothes) before showing off their skills in a fashion show, and tried regrowing vegetables such as leeks and spring onions as a way to make food go further. The final activity was making carrot cookies with Mrs Thomson, proving that everything can go into a cake as long as you add enough sugar to it.
The NSPCC came to visit us, speaking about staying safe and reminding us of the Childline phone number, 0800 1111.
We then got down to work on our Remembrance Assembly. Our visit to the poppy factory was a fantastic way to start this work, talking to the ex-servicemen and listenng to the wonderfully presented stories from the trenches. Following that we visited the cemetery with Mr Cameron who helped us understand the purpose and significance of the graves and the people who were buried there.
Our assembly on Friday 11th was very well attended, thank you everybody, and covered so many aspects of our topic work in presentations packed with examples of the children’s hard work.
Coming up in the next few weeks will be learning debating skills with pupils from Queensferry High School, taking part in Bible Alive with our SU teachers and then, unbelievably, it will be time for ceilidhs and decorations!
