Water Aid

Primary 4s really excited as through their creativity they managed to sell to the twos and threes enough wonderful products to send £100 to help children with no clean water.  Many thanks for both monetary donations and your continued support.

Looking forward to hearing all the super Scottish poems. Our class is having a competition on Friday 20th, to decide who goes forward to the semi-finals on.  Keep up the good practising.

Maths homework for the next few weeks is continuing to learn 3, 4 and now 9 x tables.

Keep learning and having fun with it.

Happy New Year,

Mrs M.

We’re back!

Happy New Year to you all!

Everyone seems to be happy to be back this week. I’m happy the snow is staying away so far.

We’ve started the term by looking at some Julia Donaldson books in Scots. We listened to The Gruffalo in Scots on YouTube:Find it here

In Maths we’re adding within 100 and then 1000 and found this nice activity on the Top Marks website which has lots of options: Click here to have a look

Scottish poems will be sent home for homework on Monday 16th January so keep an eye out in bags.

Nursery Diary

Friday 9th – Thursday 15th December
Our Nativity Performance is (almost) ready to go! This week we will be looking at costumes and will have 2 practices on the stage in school. The children have been doing a fantastic job of remembering what to do!

In Maths we will be continuing to explore money, as we buy and sell things in role play opportunities, linking to the use of stamps for sending letters and parcels.

In literacy we will be adding to our writing floorbook, exploring writing cards and letters to Santa, and posting them in our Christmas post box.

In Health and Wellbeing we will be thinking about health and hygiene. We will be learning about how to use our new toilet facilities, the importance of washing our hands and brushing our teeth.
We will have the opportunity to retell the Nativity story through play in our stable setting in the middle room. We will begin learning our dances for the Nativity performance and continue to work on our songs and stage directions.

Life in P6T

Rebecca and Cooper worked really hard on writing their blog entry, and they couldn’t believe how much we have learned in such a short amount of time!

21.11.16 On Monday we were learning science with Mr Shields. We were looking at the structure of the brain and what it does. We also made a story graph about our reading book, plotting the suspense levels. After lunch we were learning about fractions in maths. In RME, we looked at the Pharisee and the tax collector story.

22.11.16 On Tuesday we started to write an instructional writing piece on how to wash a dog. After break time we went to Queensferry High School to go swimming. The instructors were called Mrs McKay and Mrs Anderson. We were so tired when we got back to school! After lunch we made sprites on the program Scratch.

23.11.16 On Wednesday we did CLIC and big maths in the three different rooms. In science we looked at the nervous system and what it does. We went outside and we drew a giant person showing the nervous system, respiratory system and circulatory system within the giant. Finally we had Scottish dance with Miss Brown.

24.11.16 On Thursday we did art with Mrs Love and we focussed on self-portraiture with her. We also looked at tessellation and we used our knowledge to create a wall hanging with stain glass windows using tessellated shapes. We looked at how artists used tessellation in their art and natural tessellation like pineapple, honeycomb and snake’s skin. We then did literacy circles in our groups.

25.11.16 On Friday we were practising having a French conversation. Then we played some Sudoku puzzles and then it was privilege time!
