P3 Term 4 Home Learning and Targets

This term our learning will focus around the topics “Crossing the Forth” and “Roald Dahl.” Here is our parent plan for the term which explains our key learning:

This week your child will bring their learning jotter/s home to share with you. We would be grateful if you could sign and make any comments before returning jotters on Monday 16th May.

PE this term will be indoors on Monday and outdoors at Burgess Park, weather-permitting, on Friday. Please could your child wear suitable clothes on both days.

P3 Parent Plan and Targets – Term 3

Welcome back to P3 Term 3!

This term our topic will be “Famous Scots”. We will focus our learning on Famous Scots in the present and the past. Here is a copy of our term plan which provides further details about the learning we will cover:

Your child will also come home with their Learning Journey jotters. Inside the Learning Journey is a copy of their targets for this term. Please make time to look through their learning and make any comments before sending this back to us for Monday 31st January. We have sent home an additional copy of your child’s home learning for you to keep. Please note the compulsory Literacy task this term, which is based on our topic of Famous Scots.

PE will continue to be inside on a Monday and Friday and children should come to school dressed appropriately for this.

P3 Read, Write, Count

P3 Learning

We have been exploring 2D shapes and 3D objects in class over the past few weeks. The following game can be used to guess the name of the hidden shape: https://www.ictgames.com/mobilePage/shiftingShapes/index.html

Also, we have examined how different shapes fit together to make different patterns. In class, we made our own tiling patterns by drawing around shapes. This weblink also allows learners the opportunity to make their own tiling patterns: https://apps.mathlearningcenter.org/pattern-shapes/

In spelling, we have been further exploring different spelling patterns including those with long vowel patterns. Forest Phonics is a useful online game which reinforces the spelling of words with the sounds we are covering in class. https://www.ictgames.com/mobilePage/forestPhonics/index.html

P3BW and P3I Summer term topic grid – “Crossing The Forth”

This term we have planned learning about ‘our’ bridges in our Crossing the Forth topic.  Below are some activities that you could do from home to help you learn about our local area.  As always, these activities can be done as, and when you can.  We’ve included dates as we’ll share additional information for some activities each week.  The activities have numbers next to them as they should be done in that order.
