Primary 1 Literacy – week beginning 28.09.20

This week we are learning to read and write 2 more sounds! We have been doing lots of activities, and playing lots of games, to help us with the ‘r’ sound and the ‘e’ sound. Please cut these letters from your laminated yellow sheet and add them into the zippy bag. Have fun making lots more words with your new sounds!

Primary 1 Houses (and P1/2)

P1 have been very excited today as they found out which of our 4 school houses they now belong to. The boys and girls have started to earn points for their houses already! 🙂

If you would like to purchase a house t-shirt in your child’s house colour and with our school emblem on too (for PE and house mornings) these can be bought from our school office for £5 each. Please can you have the exact amount in cash or write a cheque for this as the ladies are not able to process card payments at present.

Thank you very much.

Primary 1 Literacy – Week Beginning 07.09.20

This week we are learning the ‘n’ and ‘i’ sound. We are learning to write both letters and we are thinking of words beginning with the letters. Please cut the letters ‘n’ and ‘i’ from your laminated yellow sheet and add this into the zippy bag.

If you have misplaced your yellow sheet or haven’t received one, please let your class teacher know and we can give you a new one. These laminated sheets and zippy bags are to stay at home. Additional practice with these will reinforce what we are learning in school.

Have fun writing the letters, recognising the letters and making words!

Primary 1 Literacy – Week beginning 31.08.20

This week we are learning the ‘p’ sound. We are learning to write the letter p and we are thinking of words beginning with p. We are also making the words ‘at’, ‘pat’ and ‘tap’. Please cut the letter p from your laminated yellow sheet and add this into the zippy bag.

Listening to the Jolly Phonics songs will help your child say the letter sounds too!

Primary 1 book bags

Just a wee reminder to have a daily peek in your child’s book bag when it comes home at the end of a day. Things to look out for are ORT word trees and word cards, letters about our upcoming trip and other events, P1s’ Scots Week poem and new sounds/tricky word flashcards that we have learned in our literacy lessons.

Please, also, give book bags a regular clear out and ensure that they only contain ORT/shared readers, sounds pockets and any correspondence that you wish class teachers to see, e.g notes about appointments etc.

Many thanks

Mrs Law, Mrs McConachie and Miss McLean
